We are so excited to highlight our 7th grade ELA students! Recently, our teachers, counselors, and instructional coach collaborated to design a powerful writing project that educated students on the dangers of vaping.
This collaboration was not only meaningful, but it also aligned directly with our ELA writing standards. Students strengthened their critical thinking skills by citing evidence to support their claims, while teachers provided ongoing feedback to help them improve their writing. Great job to our counselors and instructional coach for providing their expertise in the development of this project.
We are proud of our 7th grade ELA team for creating such an authentic and impactful learning experience for our students!

We are pleased to announce our "Tell Me Something Good" winner this week is Mrs. Shantrell Steward from Cottageville Elementary. Mrs. Steward shared the following statement, "We're all a little broken, but the last time I checked, BROKEN CRAYONS STILL COLOR!" We are excited to highlight Mrs. Holmes’ 6th grade Science class! Our students had a blast using the scientific method to explore how many candies of each color are in a bag of Skittles. They collected data, made hypotheses, recorded their results on charts, created graphs, and drew conclusions just like real scientists.
This fun and engaging activity not only made science come alive, but also helped students work together, think critically, and discover the joy of learning through hands-on experiences.

Today we are excited to spotlight our 8th Grade Gifted and Talented Social Studies class!
Our GT students were given the task of creating models of a tribal village to represent one of the three main Native American tribes in South Carolina: Cherokee, Catawba, and Yemassee.
Each model showcases important aspects of tribal life, including:
Housing
Food sources
Natural resources
Region or environment
Students are also able to share their models and explain their thinking to peers and instructors. This process fosters discussions and collaborative learning, allowing students to learn from one another and deepen their understanding.

The staff at Colleton County School District has been very busy for the start of the new year. The Communications Team has started an internal “Tell Me Something Good” campaign to boost team morale and keep the positive energy moving. Each week employees will submit something positive by 5pm on Friday. A random winner will be chosen each Monday and presented with a small token to say thank you for promoting positivity within our district.

As the i-Ready fall diagnostic testing kicks off this week for kindergarten through 8th grade, it is important to ensure your student is present and on time to school. Your child should get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast in the morning. These assessments provide valuable baseline data to help track student growth throughout the academic year.

There will be limited bus transportation available beginning September 15th!
If you are looking for an incredible tutoring and enrichment program that offers help in math, ela & science, and other fun, engaging sessions, sign your child up today. All students will receive a snack at the start of our program and supper before going home.
